Cambridge Village of Apex

Wednesday, January 27, 2010     The Apex Placeblogging Urbanist

Permits were issued for 284 units of an independent living facility at Apex Peakway & S. Hughes Street to General Contractor Wishon & Carter Builders, Inc.

Upon close analysis of government records, a discrepancy may exist in the planning department and the way they track population estimates. With only 3 commercial permits having been issued the formulas being used in the development report to calculate population counts will be inaccurate.

Retirement Community to offer a Holistic Approach

Friday, October 9, 2009     The Apex Placeblogging Urbanist

A ground breaking ceremony for Cambridge Village of Apex North Carolina was held yesterday, near the new Walmart, off the Apex Peakway and South Hughes street. Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly, developer Kendall Oliver and Robert Stephenson turned the dirt over to kick off the construction of the $55 million dollar active seniors community. Phase one of the project will include 90 apartments and a 28,000 sqft community center, as well as a wellness center, indoor pool and theater. The community will eventually have 284 apartments when phases 2 and 3 are completed on 14.61 acres of land, scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2011.

During the ceremonies, Dennis Redmond, the CCO for Oliver Development advised, “Today, active seniors are looking for a community that can offer a variety of activities . . . . that are socially, physically, and mentally engaging.”
In addition to Cambridge Village’s proximity to Rex Healthcare’s Rehabilitation Center, Apex is centrally located with access to other major medical facilities such as Duke and UNC Hospitals, as healthcare resources have increasingly become factors in seniors’ retirement decisions.

Responding to the needs of today’s independent retirees, is the bottom line in providing a safe and caring atmosphere for seniors to enjoy the next phase of their lives. The biggest incentive for choosing Cambridge Village of Apex has to be the affordable package of month to month rental format with no buy in fees, that includes utilities, meals, housekeeping and a 24/7 emergency call system. Combining the wellness amenities and programs, the luxury apartments – with a choice of seven apartment styles, kitchenettes and washer/dryer – are sure to satisfy the needs of the Senior Living market.
