Thales Academy Enrollment Triples
Thursday, September 17, 2009 The Apex Placeblogging Urbanist
Thales Academy in Apex has nearly tripled its enrollment in its second year of operation, starting the 2009-2010 academic year with 180 students in grades K-6.
“We are pleased that area families have supported the curriculum and philosophy of Thales Academy,” said Headmistress Hilary Hillman. “We opened last year with 63 students in a temporary facility, moved in January to our new building off Hunter Street, and have experienced steady expansion since last fall. We are grateful to the Town of Apex, the Villages of Apex, and to the families who have helped our school grow.”
Hillman noted that interest in some grade levels was so great that there are now two classes each in kindergarten, first and third grade. The school hired five new teachers and two teacher assistants to meet the demand. A few student openings remain for the current school year in grades 1, 3, 5 and 6.
