Cambridge Village of Apex

Wednesday, January 27, 2010     The Apex Placeblogging Urbanist

Permits were issued for 284 units of an independent living facility at Apex Peakway & S. Hughes Street to General Contractor Wishon & Carter Builders, Inc.

Upon close analysis of government records, a discrepancy may exist in the planning department and the way they track population estimates. With only 3 commercial permits having been issued the formulas being used in the development report to calculate population counts will be inaccurate.

Martha Ann White Loved Watching Over Downtown

Thursday, January 14, 2010     The Apex Placeblogging Urbanist

The Apex NC Town Council recently voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance that designates the home located at 316 N. Salem St. as a local historic landmark. Built in 1900, the two-story White-Duncan house faces south and overlooks downtown’s main retail street. Courtesy of The Apex Herald

The Wake County Historic Preservation Commission needed to complete a comprehensive process before the designation was made final. Any substantial exterior changes are subject to the design review authority of the Wake County Historic Preservation Commission. The property owners are also eligible for a 50 percent local property tax deferral as long as the designation remains.
